It is with regret that the committee of the NMRRL are sorry to announce that we are left with no option but to CANCEL the 1st series of the NMRRL which was due to start on the 24th April using the Harworth circuit.
After not receiving a police acknowledgement for the event, we chased the relevant department for permission only to find the application had been passed onto Highways for their approval. Unfortunately, it seems under their instigation together with County Operations/Event Planning, this has resulted in a wider look at cycle road racing taking place in Nottinghamshire. A first meeting was hastily arranged for last Tuesday at which the Police raised their objection to cycle road racing on the open road, as it currently operates, on account of safety.
The matter has now been passed onto senior representatives of TLI Cycling Ltd, and we expect BC and LVRC will now be included in further discussions with Nottinghamshire Police/Council.
Unless riders specify otherwise, ALL ENTRIES for the 1st & 2nd series will now be carried over to the 2nd & 3rd series, respectively.
The 2nd series will now be held on the Stainton circuit starting Thursday June 5th, with the circuit to be used for the 3rd series still to be decided, but is likely to be also based around Braithwell.
If any rider wishes to withdraw their entry, please let me know as soon as possible in order to make places available to other riders wanting to ride. As it currently stands, Groups B & C are full for the 2nd series now at Stainton with only limited places left in Group A.
